First Candle

Tonight at sun down began the first candle of Hanukkah! We did not have an at all traditional meal, at the holiday market this weekend Eric picked up some yummy maitake mushrooms and tonight he whipped up a delicious asian chicken stir fry before he had to get to work. I suppose it did at least have oil though.
For those who don’t know, Hanukkah celebrates the miracle in which the oil kept burning for eight nights. That is why we not only celebrate for eight nights but we also eat greasy foods.

Tomorrow we plan to team cook some traditional latkas, or potato pancakes. I also love me some sufganyot, otherwise known as jelly donuts. Of course we will also have a night full of dreidels and fun!
